Poetry Submission

Recently, I spent 2 weeks immersing myself in a poetry course at Vanderbilt University. During my time there, I was able to learn more about the art of poetry, and overall how to be a better writer. Below are 3 of my favorite poems selected from a larger chapbook I created and finalized during the class.

Resonance

Birds singing their song to your soul

Into the endless cave where

time moves differently

Led to the ray of light in the empty field

where the red tulip lies alone

Forever awaiting its summer bloom

Like a four leaf clover

Found by chance in a dream

realized as imagination expands

From the youth of the sun

Reaching out its finger to yours

The tulip stays eternally young

Hope in Denial

The parched flowers waiting

for the rain that will never fall

From those stubborn clouds above

Burnt to a raisin by the sun

Denied of its oasis

Slowly in despair

They shrivel back to a seed

The Day Will Come

The music runs deep through your blood

It flows so smoothly

It ticks like a broken clock

Crawling inside your skin

8,000 ants within

But the ants all die

The indestructible spirit running

Through your fragile body

It killed them all

The spirit that wakes you up at sunrise

The spirit that dies when the sun sets for the last time

It’s a tragedy

That life is a chocolate

For eventually the orchestra stops conducting

The ants stop colonizing

The clock stops ticking

And you near the last bite

Of your final piece of chocolate

So sweet

So bitter
